I Moved Back to Maui
Recent Experiences
The last two years have been a time of tremendous growth for me as a Web Developer. I have worked on some of my largest projects, with budgets I did not even conceive of a possibility. I have also faced substantial challenges, as this was the first time in my life that I no longer had alternative income sources other than my development work. I spent some time at Canale Comm, arguably the best agency in San Diego. I have been learning more during this time than I could have dreamed I would in my college days.
Moving to Maui
With the closing of my position at Canale Comm, my physical presence was no longer tied to my job. Most of my close friends were no longer located in San Diego. Initially, I had planned on moving abroad. But after a conversation with my mother, I decided I wanted to spend more time with my family. Most of my family remains located on Maui, and now I am also based on Maui. I have been having a blast since the move. I am jumping in the water every day and I recently won first place in a canoe race under Hawaiian Canoe Club.
Recent Work
I have been focusing on my professional work more than ever. While I love branding and creating great websites, I have expanded my services to include website maintenance, search engine optimization, and blog content creation. Maintenance-related services are a must for any business that aims for organic high website traffic. While I am hesitant to spread my skill-set too thin, I want to help others get the most from their existing website, and this seems like a growing need.
My Book
Many have been asking when I will be finished with my CSS book. While I have written much of the content for the book, I have added some variety to the subject matter a bit. Additionally, I am going to write about some of the animation and design aspects I personally enjoy. So the content of my upcoming book is broadening its range. If you are not already signed up, make sure to sign up for my newsletter! It will include a free digital copy of my book when it is released. I hope to be done by the end of this year but I may extend production deadlines.
At the moment I am not sure where I will be working from even three months into the future. I enjoy and appreciate the modern luxury of being able to work from anywhere. All I need is an internet connection!
That’s It
Please leave a comment if you have some suggestions for blog content. This blog is wide open. I have not nailed down any specific subject area.

Great picture! I like the new look of your website Joe. It’s clean and really easy to navigate. Looking forward to whatever is coming down the pipes next.
