Review: Themify Ultra Theme
My relationship with Themify dates back to before Themify was a company. I was regularly reading a blog called Web Designer Wall. Nick La, the man behind Web Designer Wall, later started Themify. Themify was a theme company that benefitted from many of Nick’s CSS and HTML approaches. Since I was already an avid follower of Nick’s blog. My approach to CSS fell perfectly into Themify’s WordPress themes.
Disclaimer About My Relationship with Themify
Before we go any further, I want to emphasize that I am openly an advocate of Themify. It’s also worth noting that I have received their products for free in the past. I have also purchased many of their products with my own resources. I have never received direct payment for the exposure I have given them. I have, however, received business leads from Themify, though none have panned out.
Predecessor to the Ultra Theme
Let us get to the point of this blog. I am going to review the Ultra Theme and more generally Themify Themes. Prior to the Ultra Theme, my preferred theme was Themify’s Corporate Theme. The Corporate Theme looked very professional right out of the box. At that point, I felt slightly limited with available customization within the theme. I was able to make all of the customizations that I wanted, but I had to create child themes and heavily edit the child themes. The Ultra Theme was miles ahead of the Corporate Theme. Additionally, every release introduced new and useful features.
Themify Ultra for the Developer
From the perspective of a developer, not a designer: the Themify Ultra Theme can get a bit difficult to edit, especially in regards to animation. In Themify’s defense, I believe the theme is more geared toward quick production. If I did have a hesitation with Themify’s Ultra Theme, it would be that the customization beyond the theme’s intended capabilities can be challenging. However, such limitations can easily be remedied by using the Themify Builder plugin combined with a non-Themify Theme.
Themify Ultra for the Designer
If you are happy with the ‘out of the box’ animations from Themify you will be very satisfied. If someone is not super savvy in CSS or WordPress, they likely will have an enjoyable time with the Ultra Theme. You can put a site together quickly, with little foreknowledge of WordPress development. You will get plenty of control of colors and fonts while keeping the site loading quickly for its visitors. If you want to implement a few images, it’s a simple ‘drag and drop’ away.
Themify Ultra for the Small Business
I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that I have used Themify themes for roughly 100 businesses. I would say of all of the businesses I have done work for, about half of them were comfortable editing their site themselves. While this stat may sound terrible at first, I would say it’s actually pretty good when compared to other theme frameworks. Themify Ultra if a very easy theme to use.
Conclusion
At this point, it should be no surprise that I am a huge fan of the Themify Ultra. I highly recommend the Themify Ultra Theme for all WordPress users, especially newer ones. Please feel free to watch the embedded video below. I made the videos years ago, but it’s still relevant because I speak in a conceptual style.
Please comment. Let me know if you like this post. What do you think of the Themify Ultra Theme or any other Themify products? Do you have any questions? Thank you for visiting me! Farewell!
