I built this site for my goddaughter’s grandparents. They have a boutique store that sells Filipino and Asian groceries. Before our first meeting, I tried to find them on Google maps to find the fastest route. They were not on Google Maps, so I knew we needed to set them up immediately with a Google business profile.

Photoshoot / Videoshoot
We did a photoshoot with my favorite photographer, Sean M. Hower (https://howerphoto.com). We used a variety of cameras and methods: gimbals, drones, handheld, etc. Having most of the photography done right away makes creating a new site go smoothly.
Writing the Copy
I wrote all the written copy of the website with the information I got from multiple interviews and direct observations.
I set up an Instagram account for JMA Imports. I also created a bunch of reels on Instagram with videos that were also being used for the website. Social media accounts build the SEO that makes a business appear in internet searches. It takes time for Google to list new sites. JMA Imports will continue to be progressively more prevalent in research years because of what we set up in this project.
I also embedded the content from Instagram directly into the website, which is also great for SEO. The primary factor that Google uses when listing a site is update consistency. Embedding content from other websites will automatically create minor updates, which is excellent for SEO because it tells Google that your site is consistently updated.
There are essentially two ways a business is found on Google.
- They are found through their business listing.
- They are found through their website listing.
Reviews are the most significant factor considered by Google’s algorithm to be prominent as a business listing. Thus small businesses need to acquire as many Google reviews as possible. On the JMA Imports website, I have multiple review buttons to capture reviews. I also embedded live reviews directly from Google in various parts of the website.
Contact Form / Chat Widget
JMA Imports features a chat widget and a contact form. Of course, their phone number and email are also listed if a potential customer or associate wishes to contact the business. Chat widgets are great because they inspire the customer to reach out more than a traditional contact form. Chat widgets seem less intimidating, but they help build connections with leads.
